Naturally Clean

Last week I stumbled onto this illustration by Renee Anne and a really great post she wrote about making your own green cleaners.  If you want to read about the science behind why I've decided to clean with natural cleaners, I would recommend the book, Organic Housekeeping by Ellen Sandbeck.

Here are a few ideas from the post I mentioned above that I use in my own home:

all purpose spray
great for kitchen counter tops / chopping boards / bathroom
1:1 mixture of vinegar and water
can also add a few drops of essential oil of choice

drain cleaner / unclogger
pour 1/2 cup bi-carb soda down the drain and follow with 1 cup vinegar. once the fizzing dies down, follow the whole thing with 2 cups of boiling water.

stubborn stain scrubber
cut a lemon in half and sprinkle baking soda on the cut section. use the lemon to scrub dishes, surfaces, and stains. also great on chopping boards.

These cleaners really work, and they don't cause headaches!
