This installation of 1000 paper cranes was made to show the artist's love of Japan, and references The Wave by Hokusai. According to Japanese legend, folding 1000 paper cranes grants the folder one wish. I love this work and just had to share it with you.
As a block print artist I am fascinated by the work of Hokusai. Above is The Wave; I read that he made the tips of the waves look like fingers, which reflects what we now know regarding the science of the fractal nature of breaking waves. It is amazing what the eye of an artist can see, before science can explain it.
