DIY: Spring Wreath

Hi there! I must admit, I'm really not much of a wreath girl; so often they are much too overdone for my personal taste. As it happens though, my front door is brown, which is decidedly not very Spring-y. In the back of my mind I had been thinking of ideas for a more modern wreath when, one day, I looked at a pile of linen scraps and decided to make just one simple linen flower to adorn a natural grapevine wreath.

I cut out simple four petaled flower shapes in three different sizes and stacked them up, overlapping the petals and simply stitched them together until the flower took shape. Then I added an antique button from my stash in the center and attached the flower to the wreath with a needle and thread until it was sturdy. My doorway is protected, but the wreath has been hanging for several weeks and still looks great.

If you want to make your own flower, I did find a great tutorial on 100layercake. Oh, and wouldn't one of Emerson's amazing flowers be just gorgeous on a wreath!
