Over the weekend, on our way to a place in what I what I lovingly refer to as the forgotten land of California, we stopped in one of my favorite small California towns, Exeter. It is a charming old town, with small shops and restaurants, surrounded by orange trees. The highlight of the downtown is its twenty-six murals that have been painted by local artists and represent the rich agricultural and cultural history of the area.
If you ever find yourself there, you must stop at the Wildflower Cafe and enjoy your delicious lunch outside on the patio.
And then, if you are lucky enough to find my favorite antique shop (it's my best kept secret), you will be rewarded with an overwhelming selection of kitchen utensils, tools, furniture, and in my favorite closet, all the wood type I could ever want. Exeter really is a great place to spend the day.
