On Being Creative

I've always considered myself an analytical person. I love math, creating spreadsheets makes me ridiculously happy, thinking in linear ways always feels better than trying to jump off the line. And because of this, I never considered myself creative... until I started a creative business four years ago. Other people in my life saw my creativity, but it's taken me a bit longer to see it in myself. The small thank you note above (from a fantastic project) is, at first glance, somewhat silly - yet, it is poignant, and I find myself re-reading often. It's not only important to believe in the things we are good at, but equally important to never say, "I'm not ______ (good at math, creative, outgoing)". It's only by trying new things (and sometimes failing) that we find excellence. (PS- Watch the TED talk below by David Kelley)
